TOPIC 1  GETTING READY TO LEARN

I have learned this topic by Doktor Fauzi,Timbalan Rektor HEP,UiTM Cawangan Pahang Kampus Raub.

We as a student we need to realize that we have entered the universe where we need to be wise in determining something whether good or bad. We shouldn't be childish anymore like school students. This is because there are many differences between university students and school students.I will share to you a few of student's life in university.

In university,
  • You spend less time in class, which are you only have 3 or 4 class every day which are 2 hours per class. So,you just have around 6 to 8 hours every day and sometimes it less than that. Compared to school, you must spend at least 8 hours or more than that every schools day. The conclusion is when you spend less time in class that means you only have less time to meet the lecturer and ask for topics or syllabus you do not understand. So,you must wise to take the chances to meet with lecturers outside the class.
  • You spend more time studying outside of class.Usually, students will create a group for studying together. They need to discuss about the syllabus that was taught by their lecturers. They should only be around 2 to 3 members in each group as that will maximize the effeciency of studying together.
  • You might not be reminded at due date about your assignments and exams.Lecturers will inform the students once about due date for assignments or exams. Some lecturers just update the date in thir website in student portal. So,you must be more alert for anything about your lessons.
  • No extensions on due dates.Once the lecturer has set the deadline then the assignments should be submitted before or on the deadline. For those who didn't pass up the assignment on time then it won't be accepted so you will lose mark for that assignment and possibly can affect your CGPA pointer on that semester.
  • More team/groups assignments with meeting outside of class.Mostly, your assignment will be in group orientad and sometimes lecturer determine your group member. So,you must have a cooperative attitude and don't be a 'sleeping partner' in your group which are you not do any job for your group.
  • Participations affects grades. If you are the student who often to come out in the class like lead the presentations, ask the lecturers or anything else, you will be acknowledged by the lecturer for being active in the class and possibly can make your pointer increasing.
